Ron Hunter has owned and operated the business since 1972; at first we operated as a boat hire and bait sales boatshed. Ron, since he was a kid at Sydney’s beachside suburb Maroubra, (gee! now that is archival!) has always surfed and spearfished and snorkelled in the ocean waters. In 1982 he established the first dive centre in Forster, NSW Australia. Buying a compressor and basically indulging his passion for the ocean, Ron has now owned and operated one of the longest operating Dive Centres on the East Coast
The dive centre rapidly overtook the boat and bait side of the business, and anyway it was a lot more exciting and fun.We bought our first commercial charter dive boat in 1985, so that we could share the superb diving and sites that we pioneered in the area in the early days.We are now on our fourth boat, each subsequent vessel an improvement over the previous one; and our boat of the last ten years the "Avanti" continues to be the best day dive charter on the East Coast of Australia.

What a professional, enthusiastic and supportive group! I just successfully completed the Padi Open Water Dive course and would like to pass on my congratulations Dive Forster for such a fantastic experience.
At 64 I was a little apprehensive about attempting this new skill. I need not to have worried because I received all the necessary encouragement to complete the course. Jo as instructor was upbeat, knowledgeable and patient and provided the confidence for success.
Ron, Gabby and Keith also offered support and encouragement.
It was a little unnerving when, on my first open water dive, we came across a school of grey nurse sharks. Not to worry, my dive buddy Jo was there to provide assurance.
Thank you for the ride. It is an adventure I would recommend to anybody.

I was referred to this place through another dive shop and I wasn't disappointed
The day started as any dive day does dragging all your gear to the boat but the workers were more than happy to help me with my gear and after that the day just got better
Before we headed out we were befriended and asked what we wanted to see and the normal safety talk
Yes they actually want to please you not just take you to a dive spot that's easy for them
On the dive it self the dive masters were pure professionals showing us all they could and at the end of the dive helping us in to the boat and making us feel at home
Can't wait to dive with them again and I recommend this to any diver out there

Traveled up from the central coast with 7 others, as with all scuba diving the weather and viz is always in the hands of the gods ! However everything else was well managed and the team at Dive Forster are truly a great team to be with. Yes we saw sharks, turtles had good viz and the sun did shine and that was all a bonus. Thanks for a great days diving, will definitely visit again.
